About the Artisans

Established in 1993 as a non-profit, non-governmental organisation, the Mitra Bali Foundation acts as a market and export facilitator for around 100 artisan groups employing over 1,000 men and women. These small artisan groups are often based outside of the easily accessible tourist areas of Bali, Indonesia, and lose out to large businesses due to lower levels of working capital making it difficult to fulfil large orders without the 50% deposit that Fair Trade buyers are happy to pay.
